MulmitMARKET SIGNAL CONSOLE

About Mulmit

Mulmit (물밑) is a Korean word meaning "under the water" — and, figuratively, what happens out of sight, before it surfaces.

In markets, things happen before the price moves. A filing is received, an insider sells, an overnight venue prices a stock while the local exchange is shut. Mulmit gathers those on one screen, in the order they happened.

What this site does

What it does not do

Mulmit is not investment advice and not a solicitation to trade. It recommends no securities, sets no price targets, and makes no forecasts. Sentences stay with what happened and the causes that were reported — a boundary enforced in code.

How the numbers are made

Mulmit does more than republish source records. It aligns public data that arrive on different clocks and in different units, then calculates only what can be compared honestly. These rules do not change from one company to another, and missing values are never replaced with estimates. The methodology document records the calculation order and exceptions.

Post-filing scores start with a fixed reference close

The first session in which the market could react depends on whether a filing arrived during or after trading hours. Mulmit fixes that session's close as the reference and measures equal windows from it. Suspensions and delistings are not silently bridged. The scoreboard therefore records what happened after a disclosed event; it is not a forecast hit rate.

A–E grades show a position within an industry

Ranking every company in one pool would systematically favor certain sizes and business models. Profitability, growth, valuation and stability measures are converted to percentiles among companies in the same industry that have comparable data. A means the upper end of that group and E the lower end, not “good company” or “bad company.” No composite is produced when fewer than three measures are usable.

An official close and a 24-hour reference are different prices

Korean official closes are stored from finalized Financial Services Commission data, so they do not move like an intraday quote. Out-of-hours references come from overseas extended markets or synthetic perpetuals. They are not exchange spot fills and can reflect currency and market-structure differences, so Mulmit keeps their labels, timestamps and sources separate.

Valuation multiples use matching periods

PER divides market capitalization by net income; PBR divides it by equity. Where quarterly reports exist, the denominator is the latest four quarters; otherwise it is the latest fiscal year. PER is left blank for losses and PBR for negative equity. A negative multiple is a state in which the usual interpretation breaks down, not evidence that an asset is cheap.

Unknown stays unknown

Late data or an insufficient sample is shown as a dash or “no data.” Mulmit does not fill missing periods with the last value, silently combine unlike sources, or interpolate future values. Each screen's method note names the basis date and source. The glossary explains the formulas and their limits in more detail.
